According to the latest reports, Arsenal have chosen to offer Ander Herrera even more money than the £200,000-per-week deal that Paris Saint-Germain came up with.
The Spaniard is on the final few months of his contract with Manchester United and lot of clubs have expressed interest in signing him. His demands for an extension have been dismissed by the Red Devils but the Ligue 1 side have been far more successful in the negotiating process.
However, it should come as a shock to all Gunners fans that Herrera is being handed out such a lucrative deal when they refused to pay Aaron Ramsey a similar sum and now the Welshman is leaving for Juventus on a free transfer.
Herrera is 29 years old and is mostly a defensive midfielder just like Lucas Torreira. It is unclear whether he will be an ideal replacement for Ramsey, especially at this pay grade.
When speaking about his future, the Spaniard told El Periodico, “It is logical [to be linked with other clubs] when you have three months of contract [left]. I take it as normal. I focus on football in the month and a half [of the season] that remains.
“The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and if you talk to another club, so I do not know if my stage is over.
“I enjoy being at the biggest club in England. The fans have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them, although I do not know what is going to happen.”
