According to the latest reports, Atletico Madrid have offered three players in exchange for Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsenal fans would be hoping for one of those players to be Thomas Partey but unfortunately, that is not the case.
The Colchoneros have no interest in parting ways with their star midfielder. Instead, they would like to get rid of some dead wood that is filling up their wage books. The players on offer are Thomas Lemar, Vitolo and Angel Correa. All three of them are squad players who have failed to make the grade under Diego Simeone.
Is any of them capable of improving this Arsenal side? Maybe but not at the cost of Alexandre Lacazette. Rumours are surfacing that Juventus are keen on the French striker as well. Mikel Arteta ideally would like to keep him but raising funds for improvements in other areas seems like a priority now.
Other than Lacazette, there are plenty of players who are expendable for the Gunners. Letting him walk could only mean that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could return to his more favoured centre-forward spot. Getting some cash out of Lacazette’s sale would also allow Arsenal to move ahead with activating Partey’s release clause of €50 million.
Atletico Madrid have previously rejected Arsenal’s offer of cash plus Matteo Guendouzi for Partey. It is likely, the North London outfit will reject their return offer for one of theirs as well.
