Arsenal seems to have won the race for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Ligue 1 defender is a young potential with loads of potential. He has what it takes to become the next big thing and hence it is no surprise that many teams are lining up to sign him. Summer reports suggested that Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Napoli and Everton are in the race for the player.
However, Chelsea are far from Gabriel and have prioritised the signing of Havertz and Chilwell for the moment. On the other hand, Manchester United seems to take their sweet time to negotiate any deal. It left the Gunners fending off Napoli who wants to replace Kalidou Koulibaly with Gabriel and Everton for the player.
It would now seem that Arteta has almost signed his second man in Gabriel Magalhaes. The Gunners are reportedly just hours away from signing the player for £22m.
Napoli has attempted to sign the player with a last-minute bid but the defender is reportedly set to sign a 5-year deal with the North London side.
He would become the 9th defender in the club’s roster and Arsenal will have some serious depth in the backline.
