Arsenal are reported to be the only side to have made a ‘concrete offer’ for highly sought after AS Roma winger, Cengiz Under.
Plenty of news outlets laid claim to Tottenham Hotspurs’ rising interest in the 21-year-old. However, the latest reports state that Chelsea and Manchester United are also strongly considering the in-form wideman.
Under has been in sparkling form this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 9 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. He has outstanding footballing ability with his dominant left foot and a burst of pace. He has caught the attention of quite a few European outfits as Emery looks to battle it out for his signature.
Arsenal are looking to make headway with a second bid in the coming weeks while Tottenham still ponders over an official approach. The Gunners desperately need to add to their attacking and defensive strengths to remain competitive in the top four race in the near future while Spurs do have the optimal amount of talent in their lineup.
Mauricio Pochettino already has the likes of Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela, Dele Alli and even Moussa Sissoko while Arsenal have still not replaced Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Adding Under into the lineup will offer more width to Arsenal’s attacks. The responsibilities cannot be solely shouldered by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang since he is not a natural winger.
Alex Iwobi has shown a lot of potential as a winger but the youngster still has to fine tune his game to deserve a regular starting spot. Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are simply better suited to more central roles.
Under could be made available for €40m in July while Arsenal’s €30m offer has already been rejected by the Italian side.
