Arsenal are expected to overhaul their side this summer after an underwhelming Premier League campaign this season. They finished 6th in the league and will miss the Champions League next season.
Unai Emery has been appointed as the new manager for the club and is likely to be very busy in the summer transfer window in order to strengthen the squad for the next season.
One of the key areas the Gunners need to resolve is their midfield, Santi Cazaorla have left the club after his contract expired and Aaron Ramsey’s future is still uncertain as he could be sold in order to raise funds which leaves them short in that area.
Arsenal have opened discussions regarding a possible deal for Sampdoria star Dennis Praet, reports Gianluca Di Marzio. The midfielder is a top target for Emery and initial talks have been held with the player’s agent.
The Premier League giants view the the Belgian as an alternative to Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini. They have been keeping tabs on the Italy international for a long time, who has a release clause of £27 million but faces competition from Manchester United.
The 24 year old joined Sampdoria from RSC Anderlecht in August 2016 and has made 69 appearances for the club since joining them. He established himself as a talented midfielder during his time with Genk, where he scored 20 goals in 139 matches.
The midfielder has been a regular for the Serie A giants this season, scoring 2 goals and assisting 3 in 35 appearances.
Praet’s £22 million release clause is not expected to trouble former Paris Saint-Germain manager who will be given transfer funds to strengthen the squad. But faces competition from the clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli.
