After being linked with Arsenal in the summer, the PSG player has spoken out about his future.

Arsenal showing interest in Belgian defender Thomas Meunier, who doesn’t rule out a January transfer.

The Belgium international has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past 12 months. His Paris Saint-Germain contract expires next summer, leaving the Ligue 1 club in a precarious position, if the versatile defender chooses not to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Having that in mind, Meunier has not ruled out a move away from the French capital, as speculation grows around a possible move in January. Manchester United were thought to be interested in the full-back to bolster their leaky defence.

Arsenal were also touted as a potential destination for Meunier given Hector Bellerin’s record of injury problems. The Gunners’ manager Unai Emery has already worked with him during his short stint in charge of the French champions.

Current Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel doesn’t see the 27-year-old as his first-choice right-back at the French champions, so in spite of the players insisting to be happy at his current side, he has refused to rule out a potential move next summer.

“The summer transfer windows was an intense period, with a lot of interest and discussion”, he said speaking to RTBF.

“I could have left but it was not done because there was nothing that suited the club or myself. Nothing was 100% for it to work. I still have one year on my contract and I still hope an extension can be secured.

“The situation is a little more complicated, because I am no longer the preferred choice in my position, but I remain professional. I feel good there, but we will see what happens during the season”, Meunier added.

With Arsenal needing further improvements at the back, with their start to the Premier League season as a clear indication, they will certainly try to swoop in for the former Club Brugge player.
