Arsenal are on their way to a strong return, according to reputable journalist, David Ornstein.
The Gunners are set to face Manchester City in Premier League’s first return fixture on 17 June 2020.
Naturally, fans are concerned about the team’s state after a very long time away from the pitch. Ornstein gives us inside information about how Arsenal have looked in training.
“I’ve heard that Arsenal are in pretty good shape, itching to go, the players all enthusiastic,” Ornstein said on the Handbrake Off podcast. “From what I’ve heard, the fitness is good, the enthusiasm is good, the training sessions are going well.
“One thing that’s clear from speaking to people (at Arsenal) is they were really pleased with momentum they had built up on the pitch before the lockdown. They were eager to get back playing & see if they can make a final push for Champions League qualification or to finish the season on a high. Everybody I spoke to at Arsenal was keen for the season to resume.”
Lot of players like Kieran Tierney, Cedric Soares and Hector Bellerin have returned to full fitness, ready to picked by Mikel Arteta. Arsenal’s main point of concern will be gaining Champions League football this season. Chelsea are 8 points ahead in the fourth spot but the task is not impossible at hand with 10 games still left to play.
