The Gunners manager has come under fire recently for his team’s poor performances, owing to the fact that fans have not seen much improvement on the pitch ever since he succeeded Arsene Wenger 15 months ago.
Ahead of Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace, Bellerin said, “This team has evolved a lot since the beginning of last season. When the board sign a manager like Unai, they know it’s all part of a process.
“He has his own ideas – and he’s done so well at Sevilla, Valencia and Paris Saint-Germain that everyone trusts in the manager.”
Arsenal have still not sorted out their defensive issues but the return of Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding is bound to give them a boost.
Bellerin, who has been selected as one of Arsenal’s five captains, added, “If you take away the last three games from last year, it would have been a very positive season.
“Sometimes things don’t go your way – as on Thursday when we’re 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go. But it’s about turning it around and showing character. We have that at the club.”
