Freddie Ljungberg revealed Arsenal players were emotional after their first win post Unai Emery.

The Gunners truly went through a tumultuous period towards the end of Emery’s reign at North London.

Ljungberg was hired as the head coach on an interim basis and he guided them to a 3-1 victory over West Ham United last December. It ended the club’s victory drought which had the entire dressing room worried.

Ljungberg told The Telegraph, “When we won at West Ham and the happiness, I had some players with tears in their eyes on my shoulder after the game.

“That’s the pressure they were under and the feelings they had. Even me, I was surprised that’s how much they were suffering.”

Sure, Arsenal are not in clear waters just yet but things have turned for the positive under Mikel Arteta. Ljungberg’s shot at the hot seat ended after three games but he did help make the transition a bit easier.

Bukayo Saka got his first start at left-back under the Swede and went on to impress profoundly since then. Arteta could not manage a better position that eighth eventually but he did win the season with a FA Cup.
