The Telegraph understands that Hakimi could be heading to England soon with Chelsea also monitoring his situation.
Real Madrid agreed to sell Hakimi to Inter Milan last summer for a neat €40 million. He has grown into a key element of Inter’s setup under Antonio Conte but the club is facing other issues. Finances are in a disastrous state as the club’s owner, Suning Holdings Group just shut down their Chinese team.
A lack of funds means that Inter will probably have to sell their big names in the coming transfer window. Hakimi could be the first to go even at a bargain rate and Arsenal are ready to offer favourable terms.
Mikel Arteta wants a new attacking right-back to fully fit into his system. Hector Bellerin offers very little going forward and has mostly been average since returning from injury last season. Cedric Soares is considered a backup option and nothing more.
Bellerin is tipped to leave Arsenal following this season. His sale could even raise some of the transfer fee that would go into signing a replacement. What Hakimi offers at 22 years of age is more suited to Arsenal’s playing style that Bellerin. But the Gunners will still need to beat Chelsea to Hakimi’s signature.
