Mikel Merino’s club are believed to be holding out for €35m.
Arsenal have given priority on their most ambitious signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino. The Gunners are desperate to sign a new striker for this season so they can challenge Man City for the Premier League title.
Arsenal included David Raya on a permanent deal this summer and he will be the first-choice goalkeeper. They also signed Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
The North London club are now eyeing the midfield and attack options. They are planning to confirm the arrival of Real Sociedad midfielder Merino. However, they are yet to reach a final agreement over a permanent transfer.
As per th fresh update of Football Insider, the Gunners are prioritising their pursuit of Merino over their bid to sign a new centre-forward.
Eddie Nketiah is likely to leave the club after not getting regular time and he is linked with a Premier League. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are two options for Mikel Arteta. In case of injury, it would be a tough call for him to setup a team.
According to the Independent, Arsenal and Real Sociedad still have some work to do to reach an agreement. La Liga giants are believed to be holding out for €35m. Arsenal want this deal in around €25m.
