According to sources that spoke to Football Insider, Danish team FC Copenhagen is interested in signing Arsenal forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji on a free transfer. The 22-year-old Butler-Oyedeji’s contract with Arsenal expires this summer, and he has not yet signed a new one.
The forward’s contract status has made domestic and international clubs aware of his possible availability; last month, on April 1, Football Insider reported that Norwich is keen to sign the Arsenal attacker.
By offering Butler-Oyedeji regular first-team play, FC Copenhagen hopes to entice him to Denmark. Should they win the Danish Superliga the next season, they may even give him a spot in the Champions League.
According to Football Insider, Berta will try to rekindle interest in Watkins this summer because the England international is still fighting for guaranteed playing time even after Duran left. But it might not occur until Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, a striker, departs the team.
FC Copenhagen target Arsenal academy player on free transfer
According to the newspaper, the 22-year-old is nearing the conclusion of his current contract in north London, which has made FC Copenhagen a target for the summer. The forward has not yet agreed to a new contract with the Gunners, and Norwich City is mentioned as a possible suitor.
Despite the injuries to Arteta’s first team, Butler-Oyedeji has been a contributor to the Arsenal under-21 team this season but has not been frequently called upon to play in the Premier League. In January, the academy product made his professional debut for the Gunners after replacing Gabriel Martinelli in the Champions League. Last month, he made his Premier League debut against Ipswich Town.
If FC Copenhagen wins the Danish Superliga next season, they might offer the striker a spot in the Champions League. He has been with FC Copenhagen since 2011.
During the winter transfer window, League One team Rotherham expressed interest in Butler-Oyedeji, who had previously been on loan at Cheltenham and Accrington. Copenhagen, who participated in the Uefa Conference League this season, leads championship rivals Midtjylland by one point in the Superliga.
