According to the latest reports, Arsenal are looking at the profile of Leicester City ace, Wilfried Ndidi.
Mikel Arteta has recognized the team’s defence to be the most pressing issue since taking over last Friday.
It is expected the Gunners board will hand him a box of change to make small changes in the January transfer window. New signings are a necessity right now even though the club has spent over £150m last summer.
Ndidi is a major part of Leicester’s indomitable defence this season with them conceding only 14 goals in the Premier League this season. The 23-year-old is instrumental in Brendan Rodger’s heavy pressing setup at the King Power. He could cost any team a signficant fee but Arsenal are trying to cut it with a cash plus player offer.
The Gunners are preparing a bid of £40m along with Granit Xhaka to win out Ndidi’s services. Xhaka has lost the support of the Arsenal fans after his blowout in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. He has been inconsistent throughout his North London stay and might not fit the mould of players Arteta wants.
The Spaniard went through his first training session on Sunday and has already been noticed to be very active with the players. His first mission will be to address the gaping issues that he has inherited from Unai Emery starting with Xhaka.
