This has been a massive relief for the player’s family and the Arsenal fans who noticed the youngster not get involved in contract talks when his birthday passed last July. The situation has been solved by tying down the club’s highest scorer at U18 level.
Balogun has netted the ball 11 times in just 10 league games for the U18s. He also scored 2 goals in 3 FA Youth Cup appearances before Arsenal got eliminated from the competition this past week.
Balogun has represented both England and the United States of America at U18 international level. He has made a few substitute appearances for the Gunners U23 side as well. He currently sits behind Tyreece John-Jules and Eddie Nketiah in the club’s pecking order.
After signing his first professional deal, Balogun said, “It’s been a good season so far and I’m scoring a lot of goals, so I just want to keep scoring and continue helping the team week in, week out. Individually my goal is to finish the season as the top goalscorer in the U18 Premier League.”
“It’s really good (seeing Emile, Joe and Eddie in the first team). You see them every day walking around the academy, so it makes you think if they can do it, why can’t I?”
