Arsenal Set £117 Million Price Tag on William Saliba Amid Real Madrid Interest

Arsenal have slapped a hefty £117 million price tag on their defensive star, William Saliba, amidst growing interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are eyeing Saliba as a key target to bolster their defense this summer.

Saliba, who joined Arsenal in 2019, has become a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s backline. Despite multiple loan spells in his early years at the club, he found his place in the first team in the summer of 2022 and hasn’t looked back.

The 23-year-old French international has three years left on his contract, giving Arsenal the upper hand in negotiations.

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Saliba comes as they look to fill the void left by Nacho Fernandez’s departure. The club sees Saliba as an ideal partner for Eder Militao, forming a formidable defensive duo for the long haul. Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s manager, is a big admirer of Saliba and is keen to bring him to the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, Arsenal’s valuation reflects Saliba’s importance to the team. His performances have been rock solid, particularly highlighted by his standout displays at Euro 2024.

While the Gunners are open to parting with their star defender, they demand a substantial fee to fund their own transfer ambitions, including the pursuit of a top-tier number nine and other key targets.

The Gunners are also working on a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, indicating their willingness to sell Saliba if their financial demands are met. Real Madrid must meet Arsenal’s hefty price tag if they wish to secure one of Europe’s most promising defenders.
