Arsenal are on the verge of signing Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea. The Gunners are working to get their deadline-day documents over the line in time.
Arsenal wanted to make a swap deal for Jadon Sancho but it didn’t happen. Sterling was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the final stage of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea were demanding a huge fee for the former Man City striker. Arsenal were not willing to sign him permanently. The 29-year-old struggled to negotiate his own exit from the Blues.
Both clubs reached an accord over a loan transfer late into the night. As per reports, Sterling arrived at Arsenal’s training ground for a medical. Transfer window will close at 11 PM and clubs have until 1 AM to get transfers over the line if they have submitted deal sheets to the Premier League.
Sterling was open to joining the North London club and reuniting with Mikel Arteta. Arteta worked with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. He scored 19 goals and 12 assists from 81 matches in a Chelsea outfit.
