Arsenal have finalized a deal to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Turkish club Fenerbahce, ending the Ukrainian defender’s three-year spell at the Emirates.

Arsenal Reaches Total Agreement to Sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Fenerbahce

With less than a year remaining on his contract and his role in Mikel Arteta’s squad diminishing, the Gunners have opted to cash in rather than risk losing him for free next summer.

Zinchenko’s departure comes after a season where he struggled for minutes, managing just 789 across 23 appearances in all competitions.

The emergence of academy talent Myles Lewis-Skelly and the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori pushed him further down the pecking order, making an exit inevitable.

Fenerbahçe have been in advanced talks for weeks and have now agreed to a deal worth around €10 million (£8.6 million) with Arsenal, as reported by Turkish outlet Sporx.

The club’s sporting director, Devin Ozek, traveled to London to finalize terms, and manager Jose Mourinho is said to have played a key role in convincing Zinchenko to join.

While other clubs, including Porto and AC Milan, showed interest, Fenerbahçe’s willingness to meet Arsenal’s valuation and offer regular playing time made them the preferred destination.

The move allows Zinchenko to revive his career in a competitive league, while Arsenal free up wages and squad space for new signings.

Zinchenko, who joined from Manchester City in 2022, initially impressed with his versatility but fell out of favor last season. In his autobiography, he described it as his “worst season as a professional,” admitting Arteta’s lack of faith affected him.

The transfer is expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days, marking a swift resolution for all parties.

For Arsenal, it’s a pragmatic move—securing a fee for a fringe player and streamlining Arteta’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
