The Gunners’ summer business is getting underway, and they have ‘accepted terms’ to acquire a Brazilian star. It is still evident that Arteta’s club needs forward reinforcement, especially with Kai Havertz out for the season due to a hamstring injury and Gabriel Jesus out for some of the upcoming campaign due to an ACL. But prior to these injuries, there were already discussions regarding a new forward.

Due to Raheem Sterling’s departure and the uncertainty surrounding Leandro Trossard’s future, Arsenal is looking for wide attackers. There is a gap left by the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

The fact that Arsenal has started negotiating for a new right-back may therefore come as a surprise. Bolavip Brazil has reported that the North Londoners are interested in Flamengo’s Wesley Franca.

Arsenal has “promised” to start the process and make an offer because Big Mengo is willing to negotiate a €35 million exit at the end of the Club World Cup, despite Wesley’s €200 million release clause.

Gunners accept conditions to buy player

The Brazilian full-back’s development, meantime, has drawn notice from a number of prestigious teams throughout Europe. Arsenal is one of the potential suitors vying for the highly-rated defensive prospect’s signature as the summer transfer window approaches, and Premier League heavyweights are particularly interested in signing him.

Wesley Franca’s appeal to Arsenal makes sense. Although they are excellent choices for the right-back position, Ben White and Jurrien Timber are primarily center-backs. Additionally, Timber has spent more of this season at left-back. Therefore, Wesley is a good candidate for Arsenal, who could need an all-around right-back.

Concerning a potential summer transfer window move, the Gunners have already made contact. Flamengo values the highly regarded right-back at about €35 million, so leaving the youthful full-back won’t cost a fortune.

Whether Arsenal will be willing to spend €35 million to acquire Wesley during the summer transfer window is uncertain. The 21-year-old Brazilian full-back’s asking price from Flamengo, however, is fair given his age and potential.
