ESPN has reported on Arsenal’s rising interests in highly-rated Celtic fullback, Kieran Tierney.
If you have not heard of the 21-year-old Bhoys starlet, you should be aware that he was seriously wanted by Manchester United and Everton in the past.
However, Tierney chose to sign a contract extension with Celtic at the time and shut off all rumours of him potentially leaving for one of the Premier League big boys. The left back’s contract is set to last till the summer of 2023.
This has not hindered Arsenal from keeping tabs on the youngster for the past two years. With Unai Emery desperate to improve his defensive ranks, the Gunners might have picked their moment to pounce on the Celtic man.
Brendan Rodgers’s side has set an asking price of around £25m which Emery is willing to meet. This would break the Celtic’s sale record which is currently being held by Moussa Dembele after his switch to Olympique Lyon for £20m.
Tierney is one of the most promising young footballers in the Scottish Premiership and sooner of later someone will snap him up at a bargain deal. He played a huge part in Celtic’s treble clinch this past season.
He has showcased his growth as a footballer and the ability to improve with each passing game. The Scotland international is expected to face a challenge if brought into the Premier League but he has the years to grow into his role.
