Arsenal are looking to sell both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
Mikel Arteta reportedly dropped both forwards in the opening fixture against Brentford due to disciplinary issues.
The manager revealed the reason behind their absence was illness. But sources claimed that it goes much deeper than that. Aubameyang has clearly disappointed fans ever since he received his last contract extension. He has not looked the same since then, netting zero goals in all of pre-season.
Lacazette is also running down his contract into the final season and is attracting attention from outside. According to SPORT, Arsenal have offered both strikers to Barcelona who previously held interest in both.
Barcelona have issues of their own with Martin Braithwaite waiting to be offloaded. If he were to leave, it would open up an attacking spot. Other reports claim that Arsenal could facilitate an exchange deal for Aubameyang and Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian has flopped out at Camp Nou but is still believed to have potential.
His agent, Kia Joorabachian has previously overseen deals with Arsenal. The Gunners are also pursuing Martin Odegaard of Real Madrid on a permanent deal. Perhaps, Aubameyang’s exit could pave the way for them to improve in key areas.
