The Spaniard has done very well for himself ever since he arrived at North London on loan.
He seems to be one of Unai Emery’s top picks in central midfield, over Gunners veteran and highest earner, Mesut Ozil.
However, Florentino Perez has rejected the bid and is demanding £5m more than Arsenal’s quoted fee. The Real Madrid president actually does not want Ceballos to leave but he might not have much chance under Zinedine Zidane.
Both clubs are in a peculiar spot with their managers since both of them lost their previous league fixtures against bottom-half sides. For the time being, neither seem to be going anywhere but if they were, Ceballos’ situation could change.
The midfielder is keen to return to the Bernabeu and prove his worth with the European giants. He simply opted for the loan this season to get more playing time and he certainly has succeeded in that aspect.
Ceballos came on as a substitute against Sheffield United on Monday to maintain his record of appearing in every single competitive game this season. The Arsenal fans have warmed up to him enough to call for a permanent signature but that could prove to be difficult next summer.
