Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly being offered a £250,000-per-week contract extension.
His contract is due to run out in 2021 and Arsenal’s only chance of keeping him is with an extended deal. Otherwise, the Gunners will be forced to sell him after the 2019/20 campaign.
Several clubs have been noted to have an interest in Aubameyang. For his second full season, the Gabon international is in the running for the Premier League Golden Boot, having won the honour last year as well. He is their best attacking outlet and clearly someone, Mikel Arteta wants to keep for the future.
According to the Telegraph, Arteta wants to solve the issue as soon as possible. Aubameyang’s current deal is worth £198,000-per-week with included bonuses for goals and appearances. Even with his new deal, Mesut Ozil will make more than the Gabon international with his £350,000-per-week agreement.
Arsenal will have a challenge convincing Aubameyang to stay without European football. This season will also be their lowest ever Premier League finish ever after suffering the 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa. All of these are not exactly what a veteran player looks to attach himself to, especially in the prime of his career.
