News broke out this week that Arsenal are looking to sell Lucas Torreira and the midfielder would not mind a move back to the Serie A.
Of course, the 24-year-old’s departure will call for a replacement to be signed and Arsenal have identified AS Roma’s Amadou Diawara to be that man.
Arsenal are currently pursuing a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey. All their attempts have borne no fruit as the La Liga outfit is holding out for his release clause to be met. They will only let their star midfielder walk if their valuation is met and nothing less. And so far, Arsenal are struggling to come up with €50m for just one player when they need to revamp several positions.
Diawara has been lined as a cheaper alternative, valued at £16.65m. Chances are that fee will rise since Roma themselves signed him for around £18m and would not want to let him go at a loss. Arsenal are also reportedly monitoring FC Porto’s Danilo Pereira. Their best chance of facilitating a move for any of these players will be to sell their current squad members.
Matteo Guendouzi is already a goner and Torreira could follow suit. Both are young and could fetch a decent bit of cash that the Gunners can look to reinvest. Arsenal also have a bargaining chip with Henrikh Mkhitaryan being loaned out to Roma last season.
