Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Tuttosport, the Gunners hold a genuine interest in the 28-year-old Italian international and have set their sights on a potential move.
Dimarco has developed into a key figure for Serie A leaders Inter, operating primarily as a left wing-back in their successful 3-5-2 system.
His attacking contributions have been significant this season, with four goals and seven assists in 19 league appearances, highlighting his quality in the final third.
However, any move faces considerable hurdles. Inter consider Dimarco a crucial part of their project and are planning to open talks soon to extend his contract, which expires in 2026.
The timing of this rumor, emerging just before Inter host Arsenal in the Champions League, has led to speculation that his representatives may be using Arsenal’s interest to accelerate renewal discussions.
From a sporting perspective, a transfer presents questions for both parties. Dimarco has played very little as a traditional left-back in recent years, thriving instead as a wing-back.
Arsenal, managed by Mikel Arteta, are currently well-stocked in that defensive area.
The club signed Piero Hincapie last summer and also have Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, and Oleksandr Zinchenko as options, though injuries have caused some disruption this term.
While Dimarco’s proven quality and offensive output would strengthen most squads, a major outlay on another left-sided defender is not an obvious priority for Arsenal.
For now, this interest may serve more as a negotiating tool for the player’s camp than a concrete transfer objective for the North London club.
