Football.London claims that Celtic are looking to tie their star forward to a new deal after signing for £9m in 2018.
Edouard has already started to display signs of a top-pedigree striker, scoring 27 goals and laying off 19 assists this season.
At 21, he is bound to have many suitors and Arsenal are leading the race. Mikel Arteta has already hinted that summer signings are necessary for the Gunners to achieve more in the future. One position which he might be forced to address is his attack.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will only have a season left on his contract in June until and unless he agrees to an extension. Securing his signature is also proving to be difficult due to his wage demands. There might come a situation where Arsenal will be forced to cash in on their best player, opening up the door for a replacement.
Celtic manager, Neil Lennon said, “We want to keep him for as long as we can, but sometimes business dictates otherwise. You don’t get too many foreign players nowadays doing what Henrik did and staying here for seven years.”
The Hoops will offer some resistance but clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United have the financial power to convince them. The question is will Edouard be the signing fans will want to see next summer?
