Semih Kilicsoy of Besiktas is reportedly being courted by Arsenal to join the team after an incredible breakthrough campaign, according to Aksam. Towards the close of the previous campaign, the 18-year-old established himself as a regular starter for Besiktas, tallying 11 goals and dishing out three assists in the Super Lig.
After being pleased with his performances, the Gunners are apparently knocking on his door to sign him this summer. But he’s not going to come cheap. More than the £25.4 million that Bayern paid to sign Sacha Boey in January, Besiktas is aiming for a Turkish record fee.
Arsenal stays in close contact with the Istanbul team, but discussing personal matters with the young player who is currently representing Turkey at Euro 2024 may be challenging.
The youngster can play in several different offensive configurations. During the season’s beginning, he played a few games on the right wing. Kilicsoy had success from the left wing and the center-forward position following an unsuccessful try-out. His 15-goal total was almost all contributed after the year began.
In the Super League, he converted shots into goals at a rate of about 20%. Although they could be reluctant to spend £25.4 million, Arsenal might view him as a future star. As an alternative, the team may offer an approximate £15 million upfront contract; the remaining amount would come from add-ons based on the player’s performance over time.
