Dinnery is optimistic about Saka’s chances of making a swift return to action.
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka doesn’t appear to have suffered a long-term injury, according to injury specialist Ben Dinnery.
The Englishman suffered an injury in Arsenal’s most recent Premier League encounter and he could be a doubt for the Gunners’ crucial trip to Chelsea on Sunday.
Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League after thrashing Steve Cooper’s men 5-0. Reiss Nelson scored twice, while Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard all got on the scoresheet.
Saka was replaced by Nelson after 27 minutes following a heavy tackle from Forest man Renan Lodi.
When asked for an update, Arteta said: “It was a bad kick. Right from the beginning he was limping, but I don’t see any further than that. Let’s see how he is in the next couple of days.
“He got kicked a few times and he wasn’t comfortable.”
Dinnery is optimistic about Saka’s chances of making a swift return to action.
The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s played a lot of minutes this season, so players are always carrying those little sort of knocks, so we’re hoping it’s more just careful management from Mikel Arteta.
“Saka won’t be expected to be involved in the Europa League this week, but all being well, if he can get back on the training pitch ahead of the weekend then great, but I don’t see it being a long-term problem.”
With Nicolas Pepe currently on loan at Nice and Emile Smith Rowe out injured, Arsenal are short of options in the wide area.
Therefore, an injury to Martinelli or Saka is a disastrous outcome for Arsenal, not only because the form that those two are in, but the lack of replacements they have.
