The player wants to become someone new at the club
Arsenal had a very busy summer as Unai Emery was appointed as the new manager of the club after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years. The Spaniard signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.
He was given the charge with the task of rebuilding the squad and returning the club to the European elite while challenging for other major honours, after they finished sixth in the Premier League last season resulting in missing the Champions League this season.
However, the Gunners haven’t got off to a great start as they have begun life under the Spaniard with back-to-back defeats in the Premier League against their big rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.
But Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels the team are on the right path under Emery and believes they can still finish in the top 4.
“We are not thinking that something is going wrong, because we are on the right way,” he said as quoted by ESPN. “Even if we lose the first two games, it doesn’t mean we’re not going to finish in the top four.
“We still have 36 games to go and anything can happen in the English Premier League, everybody knows that. We’re staying positive with our heads up, just working hard for the next games.”
The Armenian also admitted that he is looking to reinvent himself at the club and wants to become someone new.
“I don’t think you’re going to see the Dortmund Mkhitaryan, because in Dortmund the philosophy was different, the playing style was different, the league was different,” the midfielder said ahead of Saturday’s game against West Ham. “Arsenal are playing in a different league with a different manager and different teammates.
“I don’t want to see the old Mkhitaryan being here at Arsenal. I want to be someone new, someone else who can show that he’s capable of doing the same for Arsenal as well.”
