Gabriel’s heart set on Corinthians: Arsenal star reveals dream move
Gabriel Magalhaes, Arsenal’s powerful centre-back, publicly admitted his desire to join Brazilian club Corinthians, stating he would make the switch “tomorrow” if the opportunity provided.
Although securing his place in Arsenal’s defense, which many see as the best in the Premier League, Gabriel retains an intense affinity for Corinthians.
The Sao Paulo native has been a foundation in Arsenal’s backline since joining from Lille, showing a combination of resilience and technique.
However, his recent clause reveals a personal ambition that goes above his professional responsibilities in London.
Discussing his passion for Corinthians, Gabriel didn’t hold back:
“Corinthians, that’s since I was born and today I don’t think it has to be any different. I still go to Corinthians games by train. It’s my dream, I want to play for Corinthians, I want to feel that energy.”
When asked about the possibility of playing for them, he said: “It’s something to think about.
Sometimes I stop and think, ‘Do you dream of playing for Corinthians?’ I do. ‘When would you play for Corinthians? ‘ For me, I’d be at Corinthians tomorrow.”
Gabriel’s connection to Corinthians is more than just words; he has been a conspicuous supporter, even riding public transportation to a game last month.
Reflecting on his personal commitment to the Brazilian giants, Gabriel added, “I hope it doesn’t take too long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible.” His joy for Corinthians supporters, known for their fierce support, is evident.
Earlier this season, Gabriel experienced uncertainty at Arsenal as he lost his starting berth due to tactical changes, most notably Thomas Partey’s move to right-back.
However, he brought back his place before the transfer window closed, proving his importance in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
For the time being, Arsenal fans may breathe easy. Gabriel, along with William Saliba and Ben White, remains an essential part of Arsenal’s defensive approach. The team is also looking for more troops, maybe a new left-back, to strengthen their ranks.
