Granit Xhaka will take some time off from football next month.
Swiss Captain, Granit Xhaka and wife Leonita Lekaj are about to become parents for the first time. This is a big pleasant change in the midfielder’s life and he wants to be with his wife during this time.
“There are more special things in life than football. For example, when you become a father,” Arsenal midfielder said.
The newborn is expected to arrive in mid-October. So, it is very likely that Arsenal star will leave before that and will then go on to miss the second half of October.
Recently, his Swiss teammate Haris Seferovic, who also became a father took similar measures and left the squad mid-week.
“With Haris it was agreed that he gives everything against Ireland and then travels home. And with me, it would probably fall at that time when we play.”
Xhaka, who recently was in news because of his alleged rift with Swiss teammate Shaqiri over Captaincy issues, can miss Sheffield United away, Europa League match against Vitoria SC at home and another home league tie against Crystal Palace (Arsenals’mid-to-late October fixtures).
