In the wake of a wing crisis at Arsenal, it is quite hard to see Serge Gnabry turning heads for Bayern Munich.
The 23-year-old has developed himself into a prime winger and looks set to succeed Frank Ribery on the left wing for the Bavarians. He burst into the Bundesliga scene with Werder Bremen last season with highlight skills, 11 goals and 2 assists in 27 appearances.
Prior to his move to Germany, Gnabry was struggling to break into the Gunners first team squad. He made only one appearance for West Bromwich Albion before being sold off to Bremen in the summer of 2016 for a measly £5m.
Munich, in turn, activated a specific clause with Bremen to acquire Gnabry permanently for £7.2m in 2017. The winger was immediately sent out on loan 1989 TSG Hoffenheim for further development, where he picked up 10 goals and 8 assists in 26 appearances.
Gnabry won the silver medal for Germany in the 2018 Olympic Games and has also earned himself 8 senior team caps. With his pace, technical abilities and footballing intelligence, Gnabry almost resembles a young Ribery.
The German looks refined in the position and at 23 has his entire career in front of him.
Arsenal have lost Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott over the past two seasons and are yet to find replacements. Alex Iwobi has done decently well to take over the responsibilities but still lacks the instincts of a natural winger.
The Gunners faithful can only ponder on what could have been, had Arsenal taken a second chance on Gnabry instead of selling him off for good.
