Arsenal are aware of Barcelona’s interests in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are strapping up for a late transfer approach before deadline day.
It is the final week of the January transfer window and the La Liga giants are yet to bring in a striker.
Their need for an additional figure levelled up after Luis Suarez got sidelined for three months. Now, Qique Setien’s side is desperate to bring in any of the top strikers available in the European market – Timo Werner, Lautaro Martinez, Wissam Ben Yedder and Aubameyang.
The prior too are bound to cost a record sum and hence, is out of Barcelona’s reach. But Aubameyang can be signed at a reasonable sum, given his age and the length of his current contract. There has been concern around North London about losing the Gabonese forward. He is afterall, Arsenal’s top goalscorer and has been ever since he transfered from Borussia Dortmund.
Good news is Aubameyang is happy at the Emirates and wants to continue fighting under Mikel Arteta. Barcelona are also aware of Arsenal’s asking price of around £50m and up. They are not willing to cross a certain limit in their spendings this January. If anything, the Gunners should fight their level best to keep Aubameyang, if they plan on returning to Champions League football anytime soon.
