Arsenal Striker Hints At New Role After Nicolas Pepe Arrival

Alexandre Lacazette believes that fans have not seen the best of him yet in the Premier League.

The Arsenal forward scored his first goal of the season against Burnley on Saturday, helping his team to all three points at home. He came in second in scoring last season behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 9 league goals at home.

“The Premier League has seen a very good Lacazette, but not yet the best Lacazette,” he said, speaking to French television channel Canal Plus. “I need to score more goals I know, I need to be more consistent and consistent throughout matches. I can do better.

“I am continuing to work, the national team coach makes his decisions. I am trying to put in the work. There you have it. I am still (motivated for it).”

Now, this is a sign of ambition from the Frenchman with another attacking talisman arriving in the club this summer, Nicolas Pepe. Unai Emery is expected to have the trio of Aubameyang, Pepe and Lacazette lead the team’s offence.

Lacazette can hope to get more minutes under this system in the current season than he did last term. His unimpressive tally of only 4 league goals and 3 assists away from home led him to play lesser minutes in the Emery regime.

If he can hit a more consistent scoring form, maybe Emery would not be left with the debate on chosing him or Aubameyang in the central striker role.
