Arsenal Stuck With Mesut Ozil For One More Season

The Daily Mail understands that Arsenal will not be able to get rid of Mesut Ozil anytime soon.

His gigantic £350,000-per-week contract is turning up to be a major obstacle in finding him a different home this summer.

The Gunners have realized their mistake in handing out such a huge chunk of their wage bill to one player. This has paralyzed their ability to make any further signings through a reduced transfer budget and an inability to convince other players into joining.

Ozil’s value has plummetted over the past season as he fell out of favour under Unai Emery. The former Real Madrid midfielder made only 20 starts in the Premier League last term, which is his lowest ever since he arrived at the Emirates.

Emery clearly does not have Ozil in his long term plans and it would be ideal to somehow move him out of the club. However, finding any suitors is turning out to be the biggest challenge.

Nobody wants to sign a 30-year-old who makes this much amount of money a week and has such a low level of influence on the pitch. It might be in Arsenal’s best interest to somehow integrate Ozil into Emery’s plans. Otherwise, the club is set up for another season of disappointment.
