According to reports from The Sun, Arsenal have lodged an official bid to sign Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez. The Gunners have switched their attention to the Spaniard after baulking at the £120m evaluation of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
As per the reports, Arsenal are ready to fork out £27m to acquire the services of Vazquez. Real Madrid will only be too happy to sell the 28-year-old, knowing that they are willing to raise funds to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
Zinedine Zidane is set to swing the axe following a dismal 2018/19 campaign. However, the Frenchman is a big admirer of Vazquez’s versatility and tremendous work ethic. But, given that Los Blancos have signed Eden Hazard and are looking at more targets, Zidane will be happy to oblige.
The Spaniard’s cheap evaluation means he could well fit into Unai Emery’s £45m transfer kitty. However, the path leading to Lucas Vazquez’s signature won’t be a cakewalk, as Italian giants Inter Milan were also reported to be interested in his services.
Vazquez notched 5 goals and registered 4 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid last season.
