Arsenal Submit €35m First Offer For Houssem Auoar

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a €35m bid for Houssem Auoar.

The latest reports also state that personal terms have already been agreed upon with the player. He wants to join Mikel Arteta’s squad and come to North London.

Sources have claimed that Arsenal’s first offer might not be enough to convince Lyon since they initially wanted €60m for the midfielder. The Gunners are prepared to return with an improved bid but more in the range of €40-45m.

Lyon cannot exactly hold out for their full asking price. With the Coronavirus pandemic taking a hit on their finances, players sales will be one way of raising funds for themselves. Seeing how there aren’t any other serious suitors for Auoar, the Ligue 1 outfit might not much of bargaining power.

Arsenal technical director, Edu has a very good relationship with Lyon’s chief, Juninho. Both are working closely to make this deal happen. Mikel Arteta wants to add Auoar’s creativity and flair to his midfield.

To be honest, Arsenal have been lacking in both those categories for quite some time now. Auoar’s playmaking and ball-carrying abilities will be pivotal in breaking down defences. His versatility also makes him an admirable piece to go after. The Frenchman plays in nearly all positions in midfield and still only 22 years old.
