Arsenal have reportedly submitted an offer for Real Madrid midfielder, Marcos Llorente along with rival outfit, Manchester United.
The report from Metro claims that Zinedine Zidane will allow for the Spaniard to leave the club this summer. Llorente has grown frustrated with the lack of first-team involvement this season.
The 24-year-old has featured in only 6 La Liga games and 2 in the Champions League. Since breaking out from the club’s academy in 2014, Llorente has collected only 38 appearances and 2 goals for the senior team.
Many predicted him to serve as a well-rounded backup for Casemiro in the defensive midfield post but that has rarely happened. The former Spain U21 international has failed to impress any of the three managers he has played under this term and is ready to take his talents elsewhere.
Zidane is expected to build a new squad this upcoming season and Llorente is not in his long-term plans. The Frenchman had previous stated, “I’ve known Marcos for a long time, he is a player that is constantly improving.
“The only thing for him is that he needs to play more because that will help him. I remember when he was at Alaves [on loan], he played regularly and he had a phenomenal season there.”
With only two years left in the player’s contract, Arsenal have a decent chance of getting the midfielder.
