Arsenal’s suffering didnot end with the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta confirmed two fresh injury blows in Kieran Tierney and David Luiz.
Tierney had to be substituted in the second half after he felt a slight niggle in his knee. Luiz was completely missing from the squad after playing consistently before the international break.
On Luiz’s knee sprain, Arteta told Arsenal.com, “We don’t know. There a few possibilities on that, being a little more conservative with the treatment or having to go for a surgery.”
“We are talking with the doctors at the moment to make the right decision on that but we’ll see. He could be out for a few weeks at least.”
Tierney was replaced by Cedric Soares in the second half at left-back. Arteta added, “He felt something in his knee. He was in pain so it looks like he will be injured but we don’t know how long for.”
This is a huge blow for Arsenal considering how important Tierney is to the squad. With him injured, the Gunners are stretched thin at both full-back spots. Arsenal’s biggest priority over the summer will be the add depth and quality to both flanks.
