However, it is clear they need players and if you ask the Gunner fans what is the first position they would like to strengthen, the answer would either be central defence or the wings.
It now seems like their idea of a productive winger could be finally on the upward curve as Ryan Fraser’s move to the Emirates is becoming more and more of a likely factor by the day.
Charlie Nicholas also expects AFC Bournemouth to be realistic about their chances of keeping Fraser and this might make the move even more obvious.
“I don’t think they’re foolish about it, I think they’ve always been realistic,” Nicholas said. “A brilliant season and I’ve enjoyed watching the little fella develop his skills. He catches your imagination with his height really because he’s talented. But I’ll tell you what, he’s matured physically and mentally and now his final ball and his positional sense, his drive and determination. There’s this ability that he’s got that he can shape it left and right and that’s where the interest is coming from.”
“He’s been linked with the Arsenal, I know the manager at the Arsenal is talking about [signing] a wide man. Well he fits that criteria for someone like Arsenal. Bournemouth are not foolish enough, they know the value and they’ll say if the move is right and it works for us, then you can go with our blessing.”
With Iwobi currently the only recognized wide man, this would be a good move for the Gunners.
