According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Arsenal takes a ‘huge advantage’ in the race to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk as the Shakhtar Donetsk star is ‘looking to move’ to the Emirates Stadium.
The North London are having great form as they are five points clear at the top of the Premier League. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could look to freshen up his squad when the winter window opens next month.
According to The Athletic, Mudryk has been identified as Arsenal’s priority target and there is an understanding that he could be signed for less than the £86million fee Shakhtar are currently looking for.
CBS reporter Ben Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT there is optimism that the 21-year-old wants to join the North London giants during the early stages of 2023.
O’Rourke believes Arsenal have the upper-hand in attempting to sign Mudryk as he has already made it clear that he favours a move to the Emirates Stadium.
O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s a huge advantage if you’ve got a player who is openly looking to move to the club. It really increases your chances of striking a deal and securing his signature.
“Mudryk has been a long-term target for Arsenal for a while now. Obviously, the main issue for Arsenal is probably his price tag, with Shakhtar Donetsk trying to price him out of a move, and there is a lot of rival interest from other clubs as well.”
Mudryk has averaged more goals and assists per 90 minutes than current Arsenal wide-men Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli this season.
