Arsenal and Manchester United target, Mauro Icardi continues to get overlooked by Inter Milan boss, Luciano Spaletti.
It is no secret that plenty of clubs would like to have a fine striker like Icardi in their side. The Argentine has been drawing strong links with a move away from the San Siro this summer.
At a time when his value the highest, the Nerazzurri decided to renegotiate terms with him to either get more out of selling him or to keep him at the club for a long term.
Icardi, however, came into heavy criticism after his wife and agent, Wanda Nara publicly asked Inter to fulfil their wage demands. This caused outrage amongst the clubs fans and reportedly disappointed the ownership as well.
The Serie A outfit lost to Lazio 1-0 last weekend and Spaletti was proded on whether the result could have been different if Icardi was included in the starting XI.
The Inter manager replied, “Today, the only choice for Icardi was to stay out, it is only right that the others should play for how they have behaved. Credibility is needed and at this moment, it is right that others should play because in the locker room credibility is needed.
“People say we lose many games without Icardi, but the team did not qualify for the Champions League for years when he started. Inter have lost much worse games than this with Icardi.
“It is humiliating for fans to negotiate with a player to get him to wear the shirt they love. (There are) few players who make a real difference. (Lionel) Messi is one of these, Icardi is not.”
