Arsenal are planning to sign three free agents this summer.
Mikel Arteta wants to improve this Gunners side and are targetting players in various positions.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang staying at North London beyond this season is still an uncertainty. The Gabon international’s exit over contract issues will definitely need to be addressed, if it does happen. Of course, Arsenal will have to spend a decent penny to find a replacement anywhere near Aubameyang’s quality in attack.
Preparing for such a scenario, they might be obligated to make signings that are inexpensive. Bournemouth’s Scott Fraser, PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa and Chelsea’s Willian are all on the club’s shortlist with all of their contracts due to run out in June.
Fraser has been poor for the Cherries this season, scoring just one goal. That is widely different from his last season performance where he scored 8 goals and forwarded 15 assists. The Scotsman is looking to move on from Dean Court to test his talents elsewhere.
Kurzawa has faced a tought time at PSG in recent years, dropping in and out of the starting lineup. Arsenal were ready to move for him January but decided to wait for his contract to end. Willian is enjoying a decent season with Chelsea but his contract demands are not being met. The Brazilian wants a three-year extension but Chelsea are only ready to offer two.
Of course, signing all three players is not realistic or beneficial in the long run. But at least one could be. Kurzawa could offer some cover to the left-back post which has suffered under injury troubles all season. Willian could be a good backup for Pepe or maybe even offer some competition to the Ivorian. Fraser would simply be a needless signing, given how Arsenal already have Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka bursting through the academy.
