Arsenal Team Under-18s – Recent Success Stories
Arsenal have overseen the growth of a number of talented young footballers. Bukayo Saka is the latest star to break into the Arsenal senior side and wow fans.
The 19-year-old made his debut on 29 November 2018 during Arsenal’s Europa League group stage tie against Vorskla Poltava. He made his Premier League debut in the 4-1 victory over Fulham on 1 January 2019. Now, he has been called up to the England senior squad, finishing the 2019/20 seasons with the most number of assists for Arsenal.
Prior to Saka’s introduction, it was Emile Smith-Rowe who made headlines as an Arsenal youth team player. The Englishman has earned himself a loan spell away to RB Leipzig after impressing at senior level.
Edward Nketiah has also been recognized for the club’s senior side along with Joseph Willock, who scored a brace during Arsenal’s FA Cup 3rd Round tie against Blackpool this term. The duo technically did get promoted to the Under-23 and Under-21 squads ahead of this season.
Alex Iwobi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are full-time professionals in the senior squad after passing through the youth ranks at the Emirates.
