Arsenal are reportedly going after Juventus outcast, Merih Demiral.
Manchester United are also interested in the Turkish centre-back with Maurizio Sarri hardly playing him in the Serie A squad.
The report from Tuttosport claim Arsenal and United are locked in a three-way battle with AC Milan. Juventus are looking to offload the player who is clearly not in their manager’s plans. Both the Premier League outfits sent scouts to watch Demiral play for Turkey this weekend.
The 21-year-old marshalled the backline alongside Leicester City’s Caglar Soyunco to deliver a cleansheet. Other reports came that the latter is of interest to the Gunners as well.
Demiral arrived at Turin a few months back and has really struggled against the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Danielle Rugani to win any playing minutes this season. He has been allowed to make just one Serie A appearance this season.
It is believed that Sarri was not impressed by Demiral’s performance in the narrow win against Genoa earlier in the season. This has created a hostile relationship between the two as Demiral seeks a move elsewhere.
Arsenal are still suffering from defensive problems and Unai Emery is expected to be handed another cash drawer to make improvements in January. Demiral could be a nice addition to that ailing backline.
