The Gunners missed out on a Champions League spot last season after finishing fifth in the league and then losing the Europa League final 4-1 to Chelsea.
This had a huge impact on their budget which meant that Arsenal would be able to spend less than 50 million pounds on their transfer budget in the summer market. The Gunners are stuck with a small budget competing against big players who can spend a lot more.
This means they cannot buy most players in the market. Hence they are stuck to buying some unknown names. However, one area of great concern for the Gunners is their wings. They do not have an established player out wide who can start big matches and have the quality to play first team all season.
Hence, David Ornstein has said it will not be surprising to see the Gunners go in for Malcom
“I’ve seen Malcom linked, I don’t know about the current links but certainly that was a transfer they had pursued in the past as we know,” Ornstein said. “That was a Sanllehi-led transfer so it wouldn’t be a great shock if they went back down that route.”
