Arsenal to not adopt Liverpool's shirt sponsorship deal structure

Arsenal receives a fee of £60 million per season along with 7% of merchandise sales.

Arsenal are one of the most popular clubs in England and they generate an amount through shirt sponsorships. They recently generated only £5 million from shirt sales last season.

The figure could potentially be higher with a different deal structure. They have an agreement with Adidas where Arsenal receives a fee of £60 million per season along with 7% of merchandise sales.

Apart from that, Liverpool generated less in guaranteed payments and earned 20% in merchandise sales from Nike. On a comparison basis, the Gunners might have increased their revenue by selling 850,000 official replica shirts.

Kieran Maguire gives his opinion that Arsenal should not follow Liverpool’s structure to sell shirts. He speaks to Football Insider: “I don’t think Arsenal will necessarily want to emulate the structure of Liverpool’s deal.

“In terms of the Nike deal with Liverpool, that’s very much geared to trying to persuade influencers, especially in the US market to to wear the club’s official merchandise.

“On the back of that, the club receives increased sales in overseas markets.

“I think Arsenal has an established footprint when it comes to their fan base and therefore they know that there is a potential for an uptick in terms of units of sales.”
