Fabrizio Romano has disclosed the anticipated timetable for the two transactions that Arsenal is negotiating for two of the best young players available. Due to numerous injuries this season, Arsenal has had to fill the voids with young players. The Gunners have generated a number of sensations who are already having a significant impact at the senior level, which is fortunate for Mikel Arteta and company. In the later part of 2024, Ethan Nwaneri, then 17 years old, swiftly dispelled his manager’s misgivings after first displaying hesitation to include him in the mix during Martin Odegaard’s injury absence.

Since making his first-team debut in mid-December, 18-year-old left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly has been an absolute revelation. The pair, who attended Arsenal’s Hale End Academy, are anticipated to light up the Emirates for the next ten years and beyond. Additionally, during Saturday’s match against Wolves, they made their Premier League debut together, marking a significant milestone for the two. Sadly for Lewis-Skelly, his team had a mountain to climb after a very controversial straight red card within 45 minutes, which also led to Nwaneri’s dismissal at halftime.

Arsenal close to sealing new long-term contract for youngsters

According to Graeme Bailey, TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Lewis-Skelly is nearing a new, long-term contract deal at the Emirates Stadium. The 18-year-old midfielder turned full-back inked his first professional contract last year, solidifying his place in Arteta’s starting lineup. Because of his success, Lewis-Skelly is anxious to sign a new contract, and neither party is having any problems with the conditions.

In addition to Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri, 17, is having a fantastic season at the Emirates after starting with him in the team’s most recent victory over Wolves. In March, Nwaneri will turn eighteen and sign a new contract with Arsenal, securing his future with the north Londoners. Following Lewis-Skelly’s contentious red card, Nwaneri was really the player sacrificed against Wolves. This was unfortunate because he was being offered a unique opportunity as Arteta’s number 10. Both young players are totally dedicated to Arteta’s ambition, though, and will have many more opportunities to perform in front of Arsenal supporters in the future.
