Arsenal are looking to offload a bunch of players this January either on loan or permanently, states David Ornstein.
Eddie Nketiah is not the only one who is set on leaving the Emirates midway through the season as Mikel Arteta looks to clear his squad ranks.
“Arsenal, I’m told, are looking to shift up to 12 players,” Ornstein revealed. “On loan, and/or permanently. Of course, the majority of those will be young players who need to get some game time.
“We know that Eddie Nketiah will go out on loan again, having been recalled from Leeds. Elsewhere you’ll likely see a loan for Emile Smith Rowe, depending on his fitness and finding the right option.
“I think those are the two players that clubs have come in and presented for. I’m not sure on any permanents, I’m not sure on any incomings at Arsenal. It could be quite a busy time for outgoings of more peripheral players.”
There are several players who are in need of more playing time and Arsenal have recognized that. Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is 22 now is still not good enough for the first team. Matt Macey, Robbie Burton and James Olyinka face the same fate with absolutely no chances of appearing for the first team.
Shkodran Mustafi seems to be the obvious name to be moved out permanently. Granit Xhaka, however, has been convinced into staying by Arteta.
