As the Turkish summer transfer season came to an end, former Lille and Angers attacker Nicolas Pépé recently finalised a move from Premier League team Arsenal to Süper Lig outfit Trabzonspor
Pépé struggled to make an impact in the English first division after moving from Lille OSC of Ligue 1 to Premier League team Arsenal in 2019 for a then-club record fee of £72 million.
He leaves Arsenal with 80 games, 16 goals, and a strong resume. When Unai Emery and Raul Sanllehi were still serving as the club’s head coach and director of football, respectively, they saw Pépé as a key component for the future. However, Mikel Arteta, the club’s new youth coach from Manchester City, felt Pépé was unnecessary.
His playing style and patchy performances were to blame for this.
Pépé played 19 times for Les Aiglons last season while on loan at OGC Nice in the French First Division, scoring six goals.
Get French Football News has been informed by sources that Arsenal would pay £3 million to Trabzonspor as a transfer fee for a player whose contract was set to expire in June 2024.
