According to transfer journalist Steve Kay, Tapsoba has been a longtime favourite of Arsenal, and the Leverkusen back has acknowledged being pleased with the club’s interest.
A crucial player for Bayer Leverkusen, Tapsoba was nominated for the African Player of the Year award in 2020 as a result of his outstanding play. The 24-year-old is an excellent one-on-one defender who is graceful and composed. His acceleration allows him to keep up with some of the league’s fastest attackers.
Mikel Arteta prefers his team to play out from the back and maintain possession, so Arsenal will surely be keeping a close eye on him because of his skill with the ball. Additionally, Saliba has yet to extend his contract, which expires after the upcoming season. Therefore, it makes logical that the Gunners are interested in another center-back.
Despite the likelihood that Saliba will extend his contract, Tapsoba has a chance to overtake Holding and challenge the starting lineup. It would be difficult to unseat them, but it seems unlikely that Arsenal would be interested in signing him if they didn’t believe he had a chance to do so and establish himself as a great player for the team.
Tapsoba’s contract expires in 2026 and he currently plays a crucial role for Leverkusen, so unless he forces a transfer, you’d think it would take a sizable offer to entice him away from the Bundesliga club.
